Summary[edit]

Description Deze figuur stelt achtergrondsubtractie of subtractie van een chemische interferent in een nl:spectrum voor. Door middel van projectie van een gemeten spectrum op een zuiver achtergrondspectrum of het spectrum van de interferent, bepaalt men de bijdrage van de achtergrond of interferent in het gemeten spectrum (de vector parallel met de achtergrondvector is de bijdrage van het gemeten spectrum dat niet kan onderscheiden worden van de achtergrond: men neemt dan ook aan dat dit de zuivere achtergrond is). Deze bijdrage trekt men vervolgens af van het gemeten spectrum.
