Object history Probably from the church of San Apolinal or the church of San Polo, both in Venice. Bought in the Italian art market by Pedro II and Teresa Cristina, respectively emperor and empress consort of Brazil, between 1859 and 1860, with the intermediation of Cesare Lanciani. Entered the collection of the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts, Rio de Janeiro. Incorporated to the National Museum of Fine Arts in 1937.
