Thespine shows a rachitic dorso-lumbar curve, more prominent on the left. Liverand spleen are greatly enlarged. The child can barely sit up and hold upher head, and has never been able to stand alone. In appearance she remindsone at first glance of a cretin, and is probably a case of infantile osteomalacia.She weighed eight pounds when born, sixteen when five months old, ten when3ne year of age, and thirty now. When born she was very dark-skinned andhairy all over the body. During most of her life her bowels have been muchdisturbed, and she had one attack of convulsions when about five months old.She cut her first teeth at fifteen months. During the last year she has sleptfrom twelve to fifteen hours out of the twenty-four. As a rule, she is not crossand cries very little. The fanfily history is not good.
