During the German occupation of Paris, and with the help of the French government of Vichy, this building, at that time furniture shop Levitan, was an annex of the deportation camp of Drancy. Here from july 1943 to august 1944, hundred of jewish people (whose many were afterwards deported to the camps of Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen) were obliged to sort the furniture and the objects stolen by nazis in the flats of the jewish families. Never forget. Français : Plaque sur les anciens magasins de meubles Levitan : 85-87 rue du faubourg Saint-Martin, Paris 10e arr. Inscription: Sous l'occupation et avec l'aide du gouvernement de Vichy, cet immeuble, alors magasin Lévitan, à servi c'annexe au camp de Drancy. Ici, de juillet 1943 à août 1944, des centaines de Juifs, dont beaucoup furent ensuite déportés à Auschwitz et Bergen-Belsen, étaient contraints de trier les meubles et les objets pillés par les nazis dans les appartements des familles juives. N'oublions jamais. |
