tructure, which is approximately 650 feet in length, as well as mostof the foundations for the shed columns were in place. The timber portion of thepier was completed to the top of the rangers and it is expected that the entire pier, with the exception of the shed, will be finished by May of the pr»::sent year. Plans, specification? and form of contract for the shed structure have been prepared bythe engineering force of the Department and a contract will be let very soon forthis work. Work was begununder contract on June 28, 1915, upon the first of these piers at 29th street. Thisstructure is 1,190 feet in length. The timber work was entirely completed by theend of the year and approximately 650 feet of the inshore end was finished withconcrete deck. A contract for shedding the pier has already been let and workwas begun upon fabricating the structural steel on O
