Opis vrste

D.t. 14–16 cm. Naseljava severnu i delove centralne i zapadne Evrope, dok se areal u severnoj Aziji prostire do reke Jenisej. Na gotovo celom arealu je selica, a ptice zimu provode u južnoj i centralnoj Evropi, severnoj Africi, Maloj Aziji i na Bliskom Istoku. Nastanjuje otvorena travnata staništa (prostrane livade, pašnjake, tresave), kako u ravničarskim tako i u planinskim predelima. Van perioda gnežđenja, prisutna je i na poljoprivrednim površinama. Gnezda pravi na tlu, skrivena u travi. Ishrana se uglavnom sastoji od sitnih beskičmenjaka (insekti, pauci i dr). Evropska populacija je u blagom opadanju. U Srbiji se livadska trepteljka ne gnezdi, dok je na seobi redovna i brojna.
