Summary[edit]
| Description | Montevideostraat Two million passengers boarded Red Star Line steamers and crossed the ocean from Antwerp to North America. Their story, that of the shipping company which transported them and that of the city and the harbour from which they left are central elements in the museum’s main exhibition. The new Red Star Line Museum is made up of four buildings. Each of them forms a separate architectural entity. There are three historic buildings: De Loods (a few years before World War I), the corner building (1894) and the main building (1922) and one new building: the Tower (2013). The American architectural firm Beyer Blinder Belle Architects and Planners was responsible for restoring the buildings. They also signed on for designing the museum (2013) |
