Complete Project—Units under Construction was just a spot for the tourist that cared merely forshelter over his head, in preference to sleeping inan upright position, to close a hard days grind atthe steering wheel. He was sure that the motoristwas to suffer enroute on his vacation trip, goingor coming, but felt that he would be rewarded ateither terminus. At one goal was his vacation spotof paradise that he had talked about and waitedfor all year, but suffered getting there, and at theother end was home where he had to take a fewmore days rest to recuperate from a long and tire-some trip. Adolph Devencenzi and John Cavaglieri wereaware of these facts and believed that the motoristwas due a better deal when they selected a siteon State Highway No. 29 in the upper end of thebeautiful Napa Valley, not for motel units or autocourts but, for tourist cabins of distinction, cabinsthat no motorist could afford to pass looking forthe better down the road.
