Description
English: Arizona State Route 71 sign, based off pictures found at: Shield Gallery aaroads shield gallery. A 1927 Specification Arizona State Route Shield, traced from a picture of a real shield and sized to match File:US 66 Arizona 1926.svg. The Swastika on the shield is historically accurate and represents a Native American design and is not to be associated with Adolf Hitler or the Nazis.

This image of a swastika resembles the swastika that was used by the National Socialist (NSDAP/Nazi) government of Germany or an organization closely associated to it, or another party which has been banned by the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany.

The use of insignia similar to organizations that have been banned in Germany may also be illegal in Austria, Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, France, Brazil, Russia, China and other countries, depending on context. In Germany, the applicable law is paragraph 86a of the criminal code (StGB), in Poland – Art. 256 of the criminal code (Dz.U. 1997 nr 88 poz. 553). This ban, however, does not apply to swastikas that are of a religious nature, including ones used by Jainism, Hinduism, and Buddhism.

Public domain This file is in the public domain because it comes from the Arizona Supplement to the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Device for Streets and Highways, which states on p. AZ-i that "If a Section, Table, or Figure from the MUTCD is not contained within this Supplement, the section in the MUTCD shall remain unchanged." The federal MUTCD states specifically on its page I-1 that:
Any traffic control device design or application provision contained in this Manual shall be considered to be in the public domain. Traffic control devices contained in this Manual shall not be protected by a patent, trademark, or copyright, except for the Interstate Shield and any other items owned by FHWA.

No provisions of the supplement supersede this provision of the MUTCD.
