Beyond the (3/4 hr.)Inn Zur Eisernen Hand we either take the steep path to the right to(Vi hr.) the Hotel Kahlenberg or continue to follow the road. — Fromthe Kahlenberg to (1 hr.) Weidling, or by the Josephs-Steig to (l1/* hr.)Klosterneuburg, see pp. 107, 106. A forest-path (marked) leads from the hotel to the (J/2 hr.)Leopoldsberg (1390 ft.), the eastmost spur of the Wiener Wald,rising abruptly 875 ft. above the Danube. On the foundations ofan old castle, in which the Babenberg dukes (p. 22) resided in 1101-47, instead of at Melk, is a chateau (now Hofbauers Restaurant),with a small church (1705).
