Description
Deutsch: Autobahnausfahrt-Ankündigungstafel - 1000 m. Über einem sehr guten Photo, das fast nicht weiter entzerrt werden mußte, nachgezeichnet. Wie damals üblich waren die Tafeln handgemalt. Daher weicht die Typographie in sich etwas von den Normbuchstaben ab. Ungewöhnlicherweise waren die typographischen Zeichen in diesem Fall leicht erhaben dargestellt und wohl in Sperrholz gefertigt. Die Tafel war zum Zeitpunkt der Aufnahme im Frühjahr 1945 bereits etwas älter. Bei zwei der dargestellten Buchstaben - jeweils das „m“ - war irgendwann die plastisch ausgeführte Version abhanden gekommen. Statt eine neue erhabene Ausführung anzubringen, waren an den Leerstellen die beiden fehlenden Buchstaben sorgfältig auf die Tafel gemalt worden. Diese Zeichen waren 2,50 Meter breit und 1,50 Meter hoch. Quelle: Times Magazin 1945, motorisierte Soldaten der 2. US-Infanteriedivision auf der Autobahn.
