Description

Diagram of British 60 lb Cordite 1/2 charge cartridge Mk III for BL 9.2 inch Mk IX & Mk X naval & coast defence guns.
This was the latest cartridge for BL 9.2 inch guns in 1914.
Consisted of a single 60 lb bundle of Cordite MD Size 37, sticks all cut to the same length.
Has the new "standardized" igniter at one end, stitched across to form 5 rectangular parallel compartments, containing a total of 8 oz R.F.G.2 powder.
Length 32.5 inches, diameter 8 inches.


The linen tape lifting becket around the cartridge is discarded before loading.
