Funzione

Questa balestra, nelle intenzioni di Leonardo, doveva servire a scagliare grandi dardi creando panico e spavento fra i nemici.

Modalità d'uso
Per aumentare flessibilità e potenza, il gigantesco arco, doveva essere realizzato a sezioni lamellari; la corda di tiro poteva essere arretrata con un sistema meccanico e veniva fatta successivamente scattare per percussioni o mediante leva.
