Description
Svenska: Balkåkragongen är ett kultföremål i brons och det hittades 1847 i en torvmosse vid Balkåkra by, Balkåkra socken, Ljunits härad, Ystads kommun, Skåne, Sverige. Kultföremålet brukar tolkas som en trumma av brons, vilket instrumentaltekniskt innebär att den är en gong. Föremålet dateras till bronsålderns Period II (1500-1300 f.Kr.). Ett likadant föremål hittades år 1914 i Hasfalva i dåvarande Ungern (senare Haschendorf i Österrike). Balkåkragongen inköptes 1848 till Statens Historiska Museum i Stockholm och har där inventarienummer SHM 1461. Bilden är figur 215 på sidan 151 i Sveriges hednatid, samt medeltid (1877) av Oscar Montelius. Bildtexten lyder där: "215. Beslag och botten af brons till ett stort träkärl. Skåne.1/4."
