English: Blitz Repair Squad's London Camp- Everyday Life With the Blitz Repair Teams, London, England, UK, 1944 Women of the Women's Voluntary Service (WVS) hard at work preparing breakfast for the men of the 'Blitz Repair Squad', a team of builders who have come to London from various parts of the country to help repair damage caused by V1 flying bombs. These women are volunteers from the East Midlands and are working in the kitchen of one of several mess huts built along the road of London's Onslow Square. The men themselves are billeted in some of the houses that line the Square, but ablution and mess facilities are provided in separate huts in the Square. |
