Description
Deutsch: Die Granitplatte mit dem Bildnis der weiblichen Bodhisattva des Mitgefühls Kannon und der Inschrift "From Hiroshima" befindet sich auf dem Gedenkstein im Hiroshima-Hain in Hannover. Die Granitplatte ist ein Geschenk der Gesellschaft Granitplatten für den Frieden aus Hiroshima. Sie wurde am 11. Juni 1992, 8.15 Uhr im Hiroshima-Hain enthüllt. In der Schenkungsurkunde schreibt die Gesellschaft:
"Die Granitplatte stammt aus der Pflasterung zwischen den Straßenbahnschienen in Hiroshima. Sie befand sich etwa 200 m nördlich des Explosionspunktes der Atombombe, die am 6. August 1945 um 8.15 Uhr abgeworfen wurde, und war daher deren Wirkung voll ausgesetzt. Als Zeuge dieses furchtbaren Ereignisses vernahm sie das Entsetzen der Opfer.
In 180 dieser Granitplatten wurde später ein Bildnis der Göttin Kannon eingemeißelt, die als Symbol der Sehnsucht nach immerwährenden Frieden gilt. Aus dem Unheil, das über uns gekommen ist, aus der Schuld, die wir den vom 2. Weltkrieg betroffenen Völkern gegenüber empfinden, haben wir gelernt, uns eine "Friedensverfassung" zu geben. Darin geloben wir, daß Japan niemals mehr ein anderes Land mit Krieg überziehen wird. Eine Welt ohne Krieg ist das höchste Anliegen: die Ursehnsucht der Menschen.
Mögen diese Granitsteine aus Hiroshima, die als Geschenk allen Völkern gewidmet sind, ein stetes Mahnmal des Friedens sein. Dies ist unsere inständige Bitte."
