PLEASE, no multi invitations, glitters or self promotion in your comments, THEY WILL BE DELETED. My photos are FREE for anyone to use, just give me credit and it would be nice if you let me know, thanks - NONE OF MY PICTURES ARE HDR. This amazed me when I first saw it. Stadium of Philippopolis, is among the largest structures from the time of Ancient Rome in the Balkan peninsula. The Stadium of Philippopolis was built in the beginning of 2nd century AD during the reign Emperor Hadrian (117-138). The stadium is located in the center of the city, under a main street. The northern end can be seen at Dzhumayata Square but the larger portion still lies beneath the buildings along the main street, running south from the visible part. Further excavation would be very difficult and costly. |
