Description
English: R. Bullock's bus (reg. F231 YTJ), a 1989 Leyland Olympian double-decker with Alexander RH bodywork, pictured on the A34 Kingsway near East Didsbury railway station, operating route 42 to Piccadilly. It was new to Merseyside PTE (Merseybus) as their fleet no. 231. It was one of a batch of similar vehicles bought by Bullocks from Merseybus (by then known as MTL North) just after their takeover by Arriva. Not visible in this picture, but the batch were all modified by Bullocks before entering service, with their radiator grille and headlamp area being updated using panels manufactured in moulds used for the Northern Counties Palatine I. Their dot matrix displays were also subsequently removed.
