For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Zentralbild-Biscan Wjt-Ho. 11 Motive 1.6.1955 Neuaufbau Magdeburgs (Stand Frühjahr 1955) Jahrhunderte stehen nebeneinander. Um das Alte Rathaus am Alten Markt in Magdeburg gruppieren sich die Neubauten. UBz, Blick auf den Alten Markt. Im Vordergrund das Denkmal Otto von Guerickes. Guericke war Bürgermeister der Stadt Magdeburg und plante bereits eine Strasse, die ähnlich der heutigen Ost-West-Strasse angelegt werden sollte. Sein Projekt scheiterte an der Spekulationssucht der Grundbesitzer.
