Zentralbild 1956 Karl von Appen, Bühnenbildner geb: 12.5.1900 in Düsseldorf. Wirkte als Bühnenbildner und Ausstattungsleiter am Staatstheater Dresden (1945-1954); seit 1954 beim Berliner Ensemble; verdient um die Entwicklung einer realistischen Bühnenbildkunst. Nationalpreis 1956.
