Zentralbild Kohls 7.12.1959 Hochschule für Verkehrswesen in Dresden Die Hochschule für Verkehrswesen in Dresden, die im Jahre 1952 gegründet wurde, ist die einzige Spezialinstitution dieser Art in ganz Westeuropa. Im Direktstudium befinden sich zur Zeit 2226 Studenten. Es ist nicht Aufgabe der Hochschule, allgemeine Maschinen, Elektro- und Bauingenieure oder Diplom-Wissenschaftler zu entwickeln, sondern die Ausbildung richtet sich stets nach den besonderen Erfordernissen der einzelnen Zweige des Transport- und Nachrichtenwesens. Alle Erziehungs- und Ausbildungarbeit der Hochschule hat zum Ziel, Nachwuchskader für das sozialistische Transport- und Nachrichtenwesen der DDR auszubilden, die politisches Bewußtsein mit hoher fachlicher Qualifikation verbinden und unserer Arbeiter- und Bauernmacht treu ergeben sind. Die Lehr- und Forschungsarbeit wird in zwölf Richtungen, zwölf Instituten, 37 Lehrstühlen und sieben Dozenturen durchgeführt. 62 Professoren, Dozenten und Lektoren, 43 wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiter und 136 Assistenten sind z.Zt. an der Hochschule tätig.
