BURPEE'S FARM ANNUAL. 15 New Celery-HENDERSON'S WHITE PLUME. This season is introduced a new kind of celery, that will so simplify its culture that the most inexperienced can now grow celery, blanched in the proper condition for the table, just as easily as a cabbage or lettuce. The peculiarity of the celery known as "White Plume" is, that naturally its stalk and portions of its inner leaves and heart are white, so that, by dosing the stalks, either by tying them up with matting, or by simply drawing the soil up against the plant and pressing it together with the hands, and again drawing up the soil with the hoe or plow, so as to keep the soil that has been squeezed against the celery in its place, the work of blanching is com- pleted. Another great merit of the " White Plume" Celery is, that it excels as an ornament for the table, the inner leaves being disposed somewhat like an os- trich feather, so as to suggest the name. It is a " White Plume." It is well known that one-half the value of a celery, particu- larly in our best hotels and restaurants, is held to be its fit- ness as a table ornament, and for this purpose this new vari- ety is admirably fitted. In ad- dition to this, its eating quali- ties are equal to the very best of the older sorts, being crisp, solid, and nutty flavor. Last season a few thousand bunches were sold for the first time in the New York markets, and were quickly disposed of at nearly double the price of the ordinary sorts of the same size. It was purchased exclusively by the purveyors for the lead- ing hotels, and, from its beau- tiful appearance, created an interest in this vegetable which never had been shown be- fore. Its only drawback is that, from its tenderness, it will not keep as well into late win- ter as the green sorts; but as it can be had in perfection through the Christmas holidays, the time when celery is in greater demand than at any other sea- son, it will, without doubt, at once be largel)^ grown. Price 50 cts. per packet.

COPYRIGHT Very Early Paris Savoy Cabbage. After careful inspection, in France and Germany, last summer, of all the newer strains of Savoy Cabbages, we pronounce this as undoubtedly the most valuable. It ma- tures very early, the heads are firm, solid, beautifully crimpled, and of finest quality. Pkt. 15 cts.; oz. 50 cts. KOHL RABI—Curled, of Naples. A curious sort forming curled leaves in addition to the bulb. The leaves give a very good dish, being much more tender than kale, and stands winters well. It is good be- fore or after frost. In Germany the farmers cut the bulbs in half and it then produces several small bulbs again, each with leaves. Pkt. 10 cts.; oz. 30 cts. SPROUTING- BROCOLI. Furnishes an excellent and most refreshing salad. In- stead of heading like the ordinary Brocoli, it forms trusses of flowers in great numbers, and can be cut for months. Sown in March or April it is ready in a few weeks. It stands the heat very well, and after being cut grows again and again ; valuable in the Ssuth for greens. Pkt. 10 cts.; oz. 20 cts.; ^ ft) 50 cts.; R) ;g2.oo. Early Tourlaville Cabbage. This new early cabbage produces very solid, conical heads, of fine flavor and handsome appearance, being of a bright yellow tinge within. Besides coming early it re- mains a long time, bursting open. Pkt. 10 cts.; oz. 25 cts.; ^ S) 90 cts. ; fit) $3.00. BRAZIL. SUGAR SQUASH. This is a very useful squash for autumn use, much liked by all who have tried it. It is very productive, yielding 6 to 10 fruits to a plant : the fruits weigh from 2 to 3 pounds each. Skin light yellow, flesh darker yellow, very sweet, and of excellent quality. Pkt. 15 cts. ; oz. 35 cts. G-reen-striped Italian Squash. A very productive bush variety, with long striped-green fruits.
