English: Fairchild C-119G thunderbirds 59. A Kaiser-Frazer C-119F-KM Flying Boxcar (s/n 51-8166), (MSN 169) converted to C-119G between 1955 and 1957. Transferred to Chinese Nationalist AF in 1969. Information: C-119F-KM (s/n 51-8165) (MSN 168) converted to C-119J standard in 1955 but lost before new designation could be officially applied. Deutsch: Fairchild C-119G thunderbirds 59 (Kaiser-Frazer C-119F-KM Flying Boxcar, s/n 51-8166), ein Unterstützungsflugzeug der Thunderbirds Kunstflugstaffel der USAF. Das 2-mot Transportflugzeug wurde im Jahr 1959 vermutlich auf dem Flugplatz Wiesbaden-Erbenheim aufgenommen. Ein bis zwei Squadrons/Staffeln des (vermutlich) 317th Troop Carrier Wing, Medium aus Neubiberg AB waren im Jahr 1954 vorübergehend in Giebelstadt AB, südlich Würzburg stationiert. Mehrere Privatfotos dort abgestellter, und während des Überfluges aufgenommener C-119F/G Flying Boxcar sind erhalten geblieben, und wurden 2019 in einem Beitrag zum ehem. Flugplatz Giebelstadt in der in Würzburg erscheinenden Main-Post veröffentlicht. Während der Stationierung der 317th TCW in Neubiberg vom 17. März 1953 bis 16. April 1957 waren dem Transport-Wing die 39th bis 41st, sowie kurzzeitig die 782rd Troop Carrier Squadron unterstellt. Ein bis zwei dieser Squadrons/Staffeln waren 1954 in Giebelstadt mit ca. 20 bis 30 C-119-Transportflugzeugen anwesend.* |
