Opis vrste

D.t. 19-21,5 cm. Gnezdeći areal obuhvata veliki deo arktičkog pojasa severne Azije. Selica je koja zimu provodi uz obale Afrike, južne i jugoistočne Azije i Australije. U priobalnim i vlažnim kontinentalnim staništima Evrope prisutna je u periodu prolećne i jesenje seobe. Gnezdi se u arktičkoj tundri, uz morske obale, na malo uzdignutim terenima i u močvarnim područjima sa depresijama i manjim uzvišenjima. Van perioda gnežđenja, zadržava se na primorskim staništima (muljevitim estuarima, lagunama, priobalnim močvarama, peščanim ili kamenitim plažama ili sprudovima), kao i na kontinentalnim slatkovodnim, braktičnim i slanim jezerima, barama i razlivenim rekama. Gnezdi se na tlu. Hrani se pretežno insektima, crvima, malim mekušcima, račićima i u manjoj meri semenjem biljaka. U Srbiji je redovna u periodu seobe, a najčešće se zadržava na vlažnim područjima ravničarskog dela zemlje.
