Description
Español: Placa de la Calle Lavapiés (distrito de Centro) de Madrid (España). Se ha especulado con la posibilidad de que tal nombre vino dado porque en la vecina plaza de Lavapiés había una fuente en la que existía la costumbre de que algunos de los vecinos de la aljama morisca de este barrio de Madrid se lavasen los pies antes de visitar la mezquita. Otros investigadores lo relacionan con la judería de conversos que pudo haber en este barrio madrileño.<ref: Sidney David Markman, (2003), Jewish Remnants in Spain: Wanderings in a Lost World, Scribbe Publishers, pp. 43>
