5 Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment)
Captain and Adjutant Lewes enlisted in 1915. He was killed in action near Gommecourt on 1 July 1916 at the start of the Battle of the Somme.
He is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. Photograph presented by his mother, Mrs Lewes of London W2.
