English: Coastal defences at the foreshore To reduce flood risk the shore level was raised by lining it with wire mesh baskets filled with fist-sized stones (gabions). Each gabion of approximately 1 cubic metre was wired to the one to either side and above or below and the ground inshore backfilled |
