Summary[edit]

Description
English: Cracked bedding Much of the outcropping rock locally is limestone or gritstone, but the top of Lodge Hill is sandstone. This section is where the road to Lodge Hill Farm has been cut through the top of the hill. Note how the strata near the surface have been broken up due to water penetration, creating a man-made looking structure. The angle of these beds indicates that they would have overlaid the limestone outcrop of Crich Stand, a couple of miles further north west.
