English: Cucurbita maxima commercial seed name "Zapallo Redondo Gris Plomo" - feminine flower bud and longitudinal section. Notice the end of the pedicel, next inferior ovary, next hypanthium, next the narrow and long sepal lobes, next the fused petals in a still closed bud that looks green because of the green stripes along the petals. Inside the bud in the longitudinal section, the white fused styles and (3 slightly detached) yellow and conspicuous bilobed stigmas can be seen, as can be seen the still folded rest of the petal lobes in the upper part, and a disc in the base of the hypanthium that's still dry but will wet with nectar when the flower opens.
