Object history
Deutsch: Das Wappenbild ist in den Siegeln der Gemeinde seit dem 19. Jahrhundert belegt, seine Bedeutung nicht eindeutig geklärt. Möglicherweise gaben die Schildhalter des badischen Staatswappens das Vorbild für den Greif ab. Das fünfspeichige Rad dürfte dem berlichingischen Wappen entnommen sein. Götz von Berlichingen starb 1562 auf seiner über Neckarzimmern gelegenen Burg Hornberg, die er 1517 gekauft hatte. Rad und Greif wurden in den Siegeln ohne Wappenschild geführt. Das Generallandesarchiv empfahl deshalb die Umwandlung des Siegelbilds in ein Wappen, in dem für Feld und Rad die berlichingischen Farben Schwarz und Silber gewählt wurden. Der Gemeinderat stimmte dem Vorschlag am 14. Januar 1957 zu. Eine Verleihung des Wappens fand nicht statt, die Flagge wurde am 30. August 1967 vom Innenministerium verliehen.
