Italiano: Dal Tempio Y di Selinunte: Europa rapita dal toro. Sec. VII a.C. Museo archeologico regionale di Palermo, 28 settembre 2006. Foto di Giovanni Dall'Orto. English: A stone relief from temple Y in Selinunte, a Greek-Phoenician colony in Sicily, 6th-7th centries BCE. Between the bull's legs two dolphins, representing the sea beneath him. Oriental charactaristics such as his curly hair above his eyes, paralel lines around his eyes and on his neck, the tail over the calf and the face which (like all sacred animals in the Levant) faces the observer, are all pointing influence of Levantine art. |
