Fra Trygve B. Gjervans (1918 - 2004) samling.

Gjervan var vernepliktig og tjenestegjorde ved Infanteriregiment 12 som holdt <a href="http://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/N%c3%b8ytralitetsvakt" rel="nofollow">nøytralitetsvakt</a> ved grensen til Sovjetunionen og Finland i Finnmark i 1940. Da tyskerne invaderte Norge 9. april ble IR 12 sendt sørover, og under general <a href="http://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Gustav_Fleischer" rel="nofollow">Carl Gustav Fleischer</a> (1883 - 1942) ble de satt inn i det norske motangrepet ved <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Gratangen" rel="nofollow">Gratangen</a> nær Narvik, hvor IR 12 led store tap.

Fotograf er ifølge Gjervans notater hovedsakelig Kåre Hernes.
