Title and date from item.; Image in: The Boston Public Library / Photographed by N. W. Elwell, 1896, Plate VIII.; The Boston Public LIbrary's main branch on the west side of Copley Square opened to the public in March 1895. Newton W. Elwell created photographs of the interior and exterior of the building, which were then collected into a published volume entitled "The Boston Public Library" in 1896.
