nrsante D. José Ricardo.—Nació en La Pazel 19 de marzo de 1821. Muy niño fue enviado a Bue-nos Aires a hacer sus estudios, de allí pasó a París en1839, consagrándose a la literatura. Colaboró aAlci-des D Orvigni en sus trabajos sobre Solivia. A su re-greso desempeñó el cargo de Encargado de Negociosante el Gobierno del Perú, Cónsul general de Boliviaen Valparaíso (Chile), Melgarejo al escalar al poder leencargó la Prefectura de La Paz en 1865, y al organizar su primer gabinete le encomendó la cartera de Ins-trucción. En 1878 diputado por La Paz a la Constitu-yente de ese año: Sus composiciones poéticas: Oda abolívar, TSendición a mi hija angélica^ Hispano <L/lmé-rica libertada, el Himno paceño, etc. Miembro de laAcademia Española. «Ha sido comparado a Víctor Hugo, pero sin lagrandeza de éste, que son vigorosas y elegantes, care-ciendo de grandes bellezas, a pesar de lo cual resultauna de las primeras figuras literarias de Bolivia.» Mu-rió en Arequipa,

Doctor Manuel Bustillos Departamento -de La Paz 151 Bustillos D. Julián.—Nacido en La Paz e¡ 20 de enero de 1734. Hijo natural de María BustiJlos. Es-tudió en el Seminario y fue ordenado en el Cuzco. Ayu-dante de Yayes, viceparroquia de Guarina, antigua re-sidencia de jesuítas, trabajó el templo de Aigachi desdelos cimientos donde trasladó la \ Í5eparroquia, jgual car-go desempeñaba en Pucarani en 1781 cuando tuvo lu-gar la sublevación de Tupajh Katari, a este caudillo in-dio le acompañó en calidad de capellán o consejero des-de sus principios hasta su final derrota, por lo que fuedetenido preso diez años en la ciudad de La Paz comorebelde y subversión contra el Rey. Murió en una ejrdmuy avanzada de más de noventa años. Bustillos D. Manuel—Nacido en Guarina de laprovincia de Omasü\-os.
