Summary[edit]
DescriptionDisused railway bridge over Keyingham Drain - geograph.org.uk - 186070.jpg |
English: Disused railway bridge over Keyingham Drain north west of Keyingham, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. A number of surveys were carried out between 1795 and 1801 to see if Keyingham Drain could be made navigable and in 1802 an Act authorised navigation improvements subject to landowners approval but nothing ever came of it. Work began on the Hull to Withernsea Railway close to here at ([1]) in July 1853 and the line opened on 30th June 1854, but by the 1960s the route was considered financially unviable. It closed to passengers on 19th October 1964 and to goods traffic in the following May. |
