Summary[edit]
DescriptionDolaucothi gold mine - geograph.org.uk - 390668.jpg |
English: Dolaucothi gold mine These days, this is only a museum, but Dolaucothi Gold Mine has been a source of gold since pre-Roman times. All the buildings and equipment seen in this picture aren't the buildings from the original mine, which closed in 1938 and was quickly removed and scrapped or relocated for the war effort. The buildings themselves are however are from a real mine and were re-located in the early 1980s from a North Wales lead mine and accurately reflect what the early 20th century gold mine would have looked like.
I wonder if there's another National Trust property that's completely changed its geographical location like this one? |
