A Maori ladder

Summary[edit]

Description
English: A simple ladder utilized by Maori. A pole made from a sapling was lashed in an upright position to a tree trunk. This sapling, usually being around 5 or 6 inches at the butt end, was set downwards against the tree trunk and kept in position by passing ties, made from tough plant stems of a climbing plant, around the trunk of the tree.
