Notes
  • Significance: The builder and the date of the tower and the machinery at Clay Gut is unknown. The keystone over the main entrance is inscribed "The Honorable John Richardson Herbert, Esquire, 1785." The present owner, Miss Eva Wilkin, was operating the mill when it finally closed just prior to World War II.
  • Survey number: HABS VI-95
