Description
Español: Esta es una obra del escultor inglés Kingston Mason y fue fundida en bronce el 21/09/1856 y representa a Freire de pie vestido con su uniforme de parada. Esta es la primera estatua que adornó nuestra Alameda de las Delicias. "La Unión Americana i la Unión Liberal a Freire aquí el héroe, se alza el héroe noble que amó a su patria que le dio victorias, Rancagua, Concepción, Maipú y El Roble. La envidia el filo de sus dientes mella, enciende el pueblo su entusiasmo en ella y muda faz al contemplar doble. Déspota nunca, siempre ciudadano, no fue su vía la ambición menguada, los espectros que acechan al tirano nunca durmieron en su pura almohada".
