Legend:
   Judaism

The map shows Predominant religious confession by country based on assumptions as facts are not Available or have been ignored. Countries currently with irreligious majorities ((Netherlands, Czech Republic, Estonia, East Germany) are not shown as such. Areas were catholics outnumber protestants (Aberdeen) (refer 2011 census outcomes) in Scotland, (Liverpool) in England are not shown as such. Areas were orthodox outnumber protestants are not shown as such. This map relects the 1950-ish situation. For a few countries subnational entities havd been considered :

  • Iran: Sunni Islam in Iranian Kurdistan, see File:Iran ethnoreligious distribution 2004.jpg
  • Iraq: Sunni majorities in Iraqi Kurdistan and western Iraq (not shown: slight Christian majorities in the counties of Tel Kaif and Al-Hamdaniya). See w:Religion in Iraq
  • Syria: Shia Alawis along the coast in Latakia province, Druze communities in southwestern Syria
  • Lebanon: Shia/Sunni/Christian distribution, see w:Religion in Lebanon
  • Armenia/Azerbaijan: Armenian Christians in Nagorno-Karabakh, Islam in Nakhchivan
