Description
English: Arnold Fanck in spring 1939 aboard German luxury liner SS Bremen which in 1929 won the Blue Riband as fastest ocean liner between Europe and New York City. Fanck, his second wife Elisabeth „Lisa“ with his two sons Arnold Ernst (* 1919) and Hans-Joachim (*1935) as well as Fanck's film team were on their way home on this steamer from South America to NYC. Fanck had just finished filming on different sets in Patagonia, Tierra del Fuego and the Juan Fernández Islands for his upcoming movie A German Robinson Crusoe (1940) which wasn't accepted by Joseph Goebbels. The chief of the Nazi propaganda regarded the figure of Robinson as antisocial and in so far as an unwanted role model in Nazi ideology which was referring to a so called „Volksgemeinschaft“ (= people's community). Due to his orders the filmed material was cut to a profane propaganda movie for the German Navy.

Fanck, sa seconde épouse Elisabeth „Lisa“ (* 1908) avec ses deux fils Arnold Ernst (* 1919) et Hans-Joachim (* 1935) ainsi que l'équipe de tournage de Fanck étaient sur le chemin du retour sur ce bateau à vapeur d'Amérique du Sud à New York. Fanck venait de terminer le tournage sur différents plateaux en Patagonie, en Terre de Feu et aux îles Juan Fernández pour son prochain film Ein Robinson (1940) qui n'a pas été accepté par Joseph Goebbels. Le chef de la propagande nazie considérait la figure de Robinson comme antisociale et en tant que modèle indésirable dans l'idéologie nazie qui faisait référence à une soi-disant „Volksgemeinschaft“ (= communauté populaire). En raison de ses ordres, le matériel filmé a été coupé en un film de propagande profane pour la marine allemande.

Fanck, seine zweite Frau Elisabeth „Lisa“ mit seinen beiden Söhnen Arnold Ernst (* 1919) und Hans-Joachim (* 1935) sowie Fancks Filmteam waren mit diesem Dampfer von Südamerika nach NYC auf dem Heimweg. Fanck hatte gerade die Dreharbeiten zu verschiedenen Sets in Patagonien, Feuerland und den Juan Fernández-Inseln für seinen kommenden Film "Ein deutscher Robinson Crusoe" beendet, der von Joseph Goebbels nicht akzeptiert wurde. Der Chef der NS-Propaganda betrachtete die Figur des Robinson als unsozial und insofern als ein unerwünschtes Vorbild in der nationalsozialistischen Ideologie, das sich auf eine sogenannte „Volksgemeinschaft“ bezog. Aufgrund seiner Befehle wurde das gefilmte Material zu einem profanen Propagandafilm für die deutsche Kriegsmarine geschnitten.
