| Description |
English: Fanny Brook, near Rochdale, Lancashire Fanny Brook has its origin in several springs on the slopes of Rushy Hill. At on time its waters were recruited to fill Hamer Pasture reservoir, but now they run away eastwards past the scene shown here, where in fact the brook formed the boundary between the Urban District of Wardle and the County Borough of Rochdale, as well as between the respective Civil Parishes. Now these boundaries are obsolete. The brook joins Buckley Brook at the old village of Rydings. This brook then flows south, its name changing to Hey Brook before it disgorges into the Roch and eventually the Irwell and then the Mersey and the Irish Sea. |
