Summary[edit]

Description

Flade Church in Frederikshavn municipality, Denmark, is situated on high ground, and therefore it has been of importance for navigation, just as the whole coast be observed from here. The church was built in a Roman style in the early 13th century, and it has never had a tower. The choir and the nave are the oldest parts whereas the porch is from the late Middle Ages. A chapel was added about 1675.

In the church yard there are two ancient mounds, on one of which the bell frame of the church is placed. Many places around the country it’s possible to find the churches situated next to grave mounds from ancient time and today there is some dissension as the importance of this.
