Description
English: Flagellum from a gram-negative bacterium
The distal rod (green), located in the outer membrane, is in direct contact with the hook (blue). Between the hook and the filament (yellow) are two junction proteins – FlgK (purple) and FlgL (red). The rod transmits the torque produced by the motor to the hook. During the rotation, the rod is held in place by the LP-ring
