November 24, 2010.

The Desert Reconnaissance Battalion of the Gaza Division concludes a three day long military exercise. During the exercise, soldiers practiced combat in open and urban areas, in keeping with their normal training routine which is designed to maintain their readiness for times of crisis. The Commander of the Southern Gaza Territorial Brigade, Col. Tal Hermoni, said to the battalion's soldiers: "I am extremely satisfied with the drill, where you demonstrated very high operational capabilities—there are good warriors here, brave and determined."

The Desert Reconnaissance Battalion operates in the southern region of the Gaza division, and its duty is to ensure the continued safety of the area's residents and towns. The number of recruits in the battalion during the recent August draft is the highest in the last five years. This figure reflects a leap of more than 50% in comparison to the number of recruits last year. Furthermore, the percentage of soldiers from the battalion who went on to become officers in the latest draft of the Officers’ Course is the highest in recent years. This change can be attributed to the unique educational opportunities offered within the battalion, such as special courses and private lessons, as well as a program designed to encourage soldiers to become officers.


אתמול, ד', הסתיים תרגיל בן שלושה ימים של גדוד הסיור המדברי של אוגדת עזה. במסגרת התרגיל תירגלו חיילי הגדוד לחימה בשטח בנוי ובשטח פתוח והוא התקיים כחלק משגרת האימונים של הגדוד ושמירה על מוכנותו לחירום. מפקד החטיבה הדרומית של אוגדת עזה, אל"מ טל חרמוני, אמר לחיילי הגדוד: "אני מאוד מרוצה מהאימון, הפגנתם יכולת מבצעית גבוהה מאוד, יש כאן לוחמים טובים, אמיצים ונחושים".
