Jeanne Shaheen, from New Hampshire, chair of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Subcommittee, and retired U.S. senator and former Secretary of the Navy John Warner listen as Vice Adm. Phillip Hart Cullom, Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Fleet Readiness and Logistics, speaks on Navy energy initiatives before a Senate field hearing on energy aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3). The field hearing highlighted the Navy and Marine Corps' operational and shore energy initiatives, including smart metering, energy efficiency and renewable energy projects.
