| Description |
The Dome of the U.S. Capitol, one of America’s great symbols of freedom, is currently being renewed as part of an ongoing, multi-phased restoration program. In the current phase of the project, the AOC is removing lead paint on the exterior and interior surfaces of the dome skirt (the base of the dome) and skirt hoop, the brackets supporting the peristyle, the underside of the peristyle floor plates, the grand stair, and all masonry walls within the skirt area; repairing the cast iron and stone; as well as repainting the skirt section of the Dome.
