Description
English: * Additional impressions of B51 are listed with B168 which is on the same plate.
  • Admission is granted through application to the Office of Special Collections.
  • Forms part of Samuel Putnam Avery Collection.
  • Gift of Samuel Putnam Avery, 1900. B27 and B51 were formerly in the collection of Frederick Keppel and are inscribed to him by the artist.
  • Holdings checked in departmental copy of Gustave Bourcard & James Goodfriend, Felix Buhot catalogue descriptif de son oeuvre grave (1979)
  • Includes several cancellation proofs.
  • Landscapes, chiefly in and around Buhot's native village of Valognes, and animals, chiefly donkeys, but also swine and dogs. In a number of prints, Buhot explores effects of twilight, night and rain. Umbrellas figure prominently in several prints.
  • S.P. Avery Collection.
  • Signature varies. Some prints signed "Tohub" (anagram of "Buhot") or with artist's monogram. Some signed in pencil, with notes in artist's hand.
