„In den Wittenauer Heilstätten wurden 1934 - 1945 tausende von Patienten zu Opfern nationalsozialistischer Verbrechen.

Das Leben dieser Menschen galt als wertlos. Sie wurden als fortpflanzungsunwürdig bezeichnet und zwangssterilisiert. Sie starben den gewaltsamen Hungertod. Sie wurden in Tötungsanstalten deportiert und dort mit Medikamenten vergiftet oder in Gaskammern ermordet.

Diese Menschen waren Schutzbefohlene. Sie wurden von jenen getötet, die sie schützen sollten. Die Verbrechen an diesen wehrlosen Kranken sind unsühnbar. Die Schuldigen sind bekannt. Die Opfer sind unvergessen!“
