Description

A Garganta do Embaú apresenta uma altitude de 1133 metros e está localizada na divisa entre a cidade paulista de Cruzeiro e a cidade mineira de Passa-Quatro. A Garganta do Embaú é um ponto notável na Serra da Mantiqueira, na região do Vale do Paraíba, por ser seu ponto mais baixo e visível a várias dezenas de quilômetros.

O Grande Túnel possui 996m de comprimento e está localizado a uma altitude de aproximadamente 900m. Foi construído embaixo da Garganta do Embaú por determinação do Imperador Dom Pedro II , no ano de 1882, e inaugurado em 5 de março de 1883.
